About Janelle

Janelle Soriano (she/her) is a passionate and hard working theater performer and artist. During her time studying in the Ray Bolger’s Musical Theater program at UCLA’s School of Theater, Film and Television she most recently was a part of their mainstage production of Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812 as Princess Mary as well as participated in two of the Bruin Fringe Festivals, an annual showcase of original student works. She is also heavily involved in the student theater scene, acting as the Artistic Director and now the Outreach Coordinator for the Color Box Production Company, a student theater group with the mission to uplift voices of color and underrepresented narratives in the theatrical and film space. With Color Box, other credits of hers include Jan from Grease and the lead role of Nina Rosario in In the Heights. Additionally, she played Dorothy Wise, one of the leading roles, in the American Conservatory Theater’s Young Conservatory production of The Code, an original musical by the Kilbanes. She is very enthusiastic and excited about the idea of creating and collaborating on original works, and would often participate in those types of projects. She was a part of Teatro Sueñalo’s production of Daydreamer, an original musical by Mario Vega and Eliza Vedar, as the lead role of Candelaria as well as Out of the Blue Theater Company’s production of You Never Existed written by recent UCLA grad Sheldon Skoboloff as La Pobrecita. She is devoted to working towards achieving accessible theater, especially for those that don’t see their own stories reflected on stage as often. She ultimately hopes, through her work, to inspire others to advocate for themselves and create their own stories.
